GEP Inception

Dianah is dedicated to empowering children and young adults to raise above the poverty crisis in Uganda through Implementation of high level programs to empower them access quality education as well create/secure jobs on a global level. She understands that when children and young adults are given a fair chance, challenging standards and high support, they could accomplish anything. Determined to make this vision a reality, Dianah combined her entrepreneurial skills and her passion for GEP Uganda vision (2013-2019) and founded GEP USA in 2021 with two friends.

GEP is a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization that was founded by Dianah Nankunda
Dianah grew up in a family of 13 siblings, there was barely enough for them, but her father did his best to take them to school. Even though he didn’t go to school, he managed to teach them reading and writing in English. He strived and took them to the best schools in the country.

Besides investing in education, their dad exposed them to the ‘other life’- the prosperous life he wished for his children. He could take them to high-end parties held by his educated friends. The children could witness the graduation or wedding ceremonies of the learned fellows. He wanted them to experience educated and intellectual people’s lifestyles. And for sure, this intrigued Dianah’s passion for education and change.

Also, Dianah’s parents taught them to give back and be optimistic about the future. Her parents helped out children in local communities from early childhood, and they were taught that anything is possible. Unfortunately, factors outside of anyone’s control make it hard for some children to reach their potential: things like who their parents are, where they grew up, and their gender.

Dianah’s late father was her great inspiration. So, when she finally became what her dad had envisioned, she knew it was time to give back to the community. That’s why Gedion Education Program (GEP Uganda) was founded in the memory of Dianah’s late Dad Gedion. The organization’s mission is to support needy children and youth through education and sustainable employment.

Diana relocated to the USA in 2019 and teamed up with her two friends, and GEP USA was born in 2021 with her 2 friends.
